Le(ave)Bron

Watching game 3 of Cavs/Pacers, this is all I could think about.

If you’re any kind of NBA fan or you just happen to be from Cleveland, you don’t need any explanation of this gif. You know where this took place, you know what year this was, and you know the significance of what happened in the months after this gif took place.

The world changed. And I can see it happening again.

in 2010. LeBron averaged 29 PPG, 9 RPG, and 7 APG. He put up great numbers with consistency. LeBron is such an all-time great player, that he put up these numbers while totally disengaged. No one knows exactly why, and all we have is speculation that will not be discussed here.

In 2018, LeBron is putting up an even more efficient 32,11, and 8. He’s playing out of his mind, but he seems disengaged again.

By no means am I saying that he isn’t trying hard, or what he is doing is not difficult, it is just that it seems like his spirit is elsewhere already.

During the last 6 minutes of Game 3, LeBron would not drive to the basket. All he would do is shoot jump shots. He had Thad Young and Lance Stephenson guarding him most of the time, and he is able to take both of those men off the dribble.

It looked as if he was saying to his teammates, “I can’t carry you anymore. I’m doing the least amount possible to finish this game. If the shots go in, they go in.”

Just another one of those passive-aggressive messages from LeBron. But at this point, I don’t blame him. His teammates have given him next to no help.

In each game, LeBron is the only Cavalier to score more than 20 points. And in each game, only two other Cavs scored in double-figures. We have failed to see the top-5 offense that the Cavs had all year, even while injuries and trades threatened to derail the season.

I won’t guess (yet) where LeBron is going to take his talents to this offseason, but at this rate, it for sure will not be Cleveland.
