Free Micah Parsons

When Micah Parsons is the most mature person in a given situation, something has gone wrong. But that’s what’s happening now.

Micha Parsons has been officially requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys because not only will they not get a contract extension done with Parson, they won’t even engage in negotiations, if what Parsons posted on twitter is 100% true.

Jerry and Stephen Jones have had a whole calendar year to get this extension done. It would’ve been much cheaper one year ago, but they chose to wait, and now they deal with the consequences. We all know what the details of the contract will look like. Somewhere in the range of $42-45 million in average annual value, with $110 in guarantees. Maybe more depending on how long the extension is for. We all know this is what it’s going to take to sign Parsons, so why isn’t it done?

Why are Jerry and Stephen Jones taking this hard line stance against their best player? Why are they talking about how many games he’s missed due to injury? He’s missed 4 due to injury, and 1 due to covid in his 4 years in the league. So to call that out in the media as a reason you’re hesitating to pay him is asinine.

I have no idea what the long game here is for the Cowboys front office. I don’t believe Parsons will get traded, but at this point I don’t feel like he’ll get paid anytime soon, either.

It’s going to get worse before it’s gets better. How much worse remains to be seen.
