What we learned this NFL weekend

  1. Aaron Rodgers is still great.

A lot of people wrote him off earlier in the year, and it was deserved, because he was not playing well. But to quote Stephen A. Smith, “he’s a BAD man.” I mean, the guy is in the pocket forever watching his receivers get open. On his first touchdown pass he could have literally made a whole 10-second snapchat video before he threw it. Not to mention his signature Hail Mary before the half. He’s still unbelievable.

2. Pass-Rushers matter.

Jadeveon Clowney made Oakland’s backup left tackle look bad. Real bad. Superbad. Michael Jackson bad. He didn’t technically have a sack but it felt like he did. Bud Dupree killed Matt Moore in Pittsburgh and was in the backfield most of the time. The New York Giants couldn’t get real pressure on Aaron Rodgers without Jason Pierre-Paul and it was the end of their season.

There’s a reason why these guys get paid so much in free agency, and get picked so high in the draft. A great pass-rusher has the most impact on the game anyone can have besides a quarterback.

3. Haters gon’ hate.

There are entirely too many people worried about Odell and the crew on the boat in Miami. That was a whole week ago. Yes, Beckham dropped a number of passes, but let’s not bring that up in the analysis (I’m talking to you Joe Buck). It doesn’t matter if he partied a week before the game. I’m sure 85% of the players still in the playoffs went to the club after their respective games.

He should have caught those passes. He’s a great player and he’s expected to make those plays because he usually does. But let’s just talk about what happened on the field, not in the VIP section. With that being said…

4. Antonio Brown is still the best WR in the NFL.

AB stays open even though we all know where the ball is going in the air. Odell Beckham is great, Julio Jones is great, A.J. Green is great, but Brown is the best. I feel like I can count on him for at least 100 yards and 1 TD every week, guaranteed. If anyone thought he lost the WR crown to OBJ, he showed them why they were wrong on Sunday.

He cut the Miami secondary up like:

Business is boomin’.

5. There really aren’t any teams better than the Patriots or Cowboys.

One team has the best offensive line maybe ever, great offensive skill players, and a competent defense. The other has the greatest quarterback and the greatest coach of all-time. The rest of the field all has a big flaw at one spot or another.

Seattle can’t protect Russell Wilson, the Packers and Steelers can’t cover good receivers, the Chiefs’ quarterback is Alex Smth, Houston’s quarterback is Brock Osweiler, and Atlanta has been really good, but inconsistent.

It’s the NFL, and any given Sunday anyone can win or whatever, but I don’t see anyone beating the Cowboys or Patriots before they both get to the Super Bowl in Houston.
